thought about the loss of the boulevard's palm-lined landscape.

Location: NE 69th Street & Biscayne
A few "Sippers" at Starbuck's; A young mom and her son at a bus stop;

A gentleman at NE 67th Street and Biscayne, when asked if he had an opinion on the palms' removal, stated, "They're pulling these trees
out by the roots; those are our roots they're pulling out!"
A elderly Upper Eastside Resident of 35 years, who moved to Miami in 1939 said, "Leave the shade trees for other places. This was a
beautiful boulevard. Royal Palms lined the boulevard from downtown all the way past here. Today it's all about tearing down."
Others expressed better venues for shade:
- extending covers on the bus shelters;
- adding shade structures like those on Lincoln Road; and,
- having businesses install canopies to their store fronts.
"It's not about palms versus shade, it's about preserving
South Florida's rich history and sub-tropical landscape"
